Road Rage: Drive Angry

Road Rage is the newest member of the team, and I’ve worked with him for a whole two runs now. And one of those was our longest single run to date, so that has to count for something. I figured it was about time to throw together my own thoughts on him and what he does and the like. He's also going a long way towards reinforcing the 'unconventional' nature of our team; still no Sam or Decker or whatever else, but now we're double-dipping on the adepts.

First up, Road Rage is an ex-pat Yank who wound up Down Under With very little to his name at all. I haven't really probed where he's from (When you’re Australian, "Yank" could mean the UCAS or CAS or CFS. Or possibly even the NAN if you were really stretching it. Hell, you could even mean Ares Macrotechnology) why he ended up here, as I figure it's a sore spot and not something that I'm not going to poke until he's ready to talk about it. Of course, that means it could come back to kill us, but hey. That's what being a Runner's all about, right?

Road Rage
At any rate, he would up in Sydney with next to nothing to his name. He lives in his car (more of that to come, but it's a great car!) on whatever vacant lot he can find to park it in. Aside from that, all he owns is his road leathers, a pair of pistols, and a Dog (a German Sheppard called Rex). He's since adopted a second dog (a Husky called Mishka) but that's about the limit of his worldly goods. As you can imagine, he's not that flush with cash either. That's probably the main reason why he's a Runner, given that it allows him to use the skills he has to make a quick buck.

Speaking of, those skills are pretty handy. Road Rage is an adept, but unlike orca who is more martial arts and punching people focused, he uses his adept abilities to improved his firearm skills. He’s a supernaturally good shot, and while he only uses pistols, he's demonstrated an ability to hit targets at ranges that would be impossible, or make shots that he had no chance of landing. And when he does hit home, his shots tend to be so insanely precise and devastating, it's amazing. I'd say he's the best shot on the team, but that's actually a bit of a rubbish measure as none of the rest of us are that good (or even use guns to begin with).

He's also a rather good infiltrator and sneak, again, great skills to have. While he's not at the "cybered up Sam with an assault rifle" level of firepower, he does have a lot of skill and knowledge that he brings to the team. All of which is useful because... Well, there's no easy way to put it, but he does kind of deserve his street name. He does seem to have a lot of anger in him and is a bit head-strong and over-enthusiastic at times. Some days, it seems like he and Orca are actively encouraging each other. They do work well together, mind you, so it's not all bad.

Road Rage's subtle and delicate weapon of choice
His arsenal is simple and straightforward, and indicative of his particular blend of subtlety and explosive violence. His main gun is a Ruger Super Warhawk, a heavy duty revolver that's about as subtle as a kick to the cruets. Not that you care, of course, because it's also rather ridiculously cool. His other gun is a Remington Roomsweeper, which is basically a pistol that fires a single Shotgun round. So like i said, very subtle.

Just as suble (and, but the way, just as cool) is his choice of car/living arrangements. He owns a Ford V8 Interceptor, an Australian-built high performance car. It's a powerful beast all right, with a deliberately retro styling that belies its impressive performance and capabilities. Added to that, it's a great baseline to work from for modifications, so he can get a lot more out of it with a bit of time and effort. I figure that it ate up a lot of whatever cash he had once he landed in Australia, but given the results, I'd say it was money well spent. Plus he invested in a set of off-road tires as well, which given what passes for roads around here, is definitely a good call.

So all up he's loud, he likes guns and has a great car. What's there not to like?
Rex (Ham roll optional)
